Port Stephens is a large natural harbour that is well known for its beautiful beaches and sand dunes. Named by Captain Cook back in 1770 Port Stephens covers an area of roughly 119 square metres and is actually larger than the Sydney Harbour.

Port Stephens is approximately a 2.5 hour drive from Sydney and an hour from Newcastle making it an ideal getaway. Nelson Bay and Anna Bay are two popular suburbs of the region. While Stockton Beach is famous thanks to the MV Sygna Shipwreck and Tin City which is a post World War II community.

There are many popular activities available in Port Stephens such as Dolphin Watch Cruises, Whale Watching, Sandboarding 4WD tours, Parasailing and Quad Bike Adventures on the dunes. It is a great destination for families, couples and solo travellers!

Because Port Stephens is such a fantastic place to visit accommodation in the region books out fast particularly over Christmas and New Years. If you are considering making Port Stephens your next holiday destination it is best to book early.
