6 Ways to Make the Most of Your Adelaide Adventure

6 Ways to Make the Most of Your Adelaide Adventure

Adelaide, the South Australian capital, is one of THE places to be this year. From its mouth-watering foods and thirst quenching wines to its unique wildlife and accessibility, there are so many attractions to see and visit. Here are 6 tips to help you make the most of your Adelaide adventure.

Time of the year

All year round, Adelaide has something happening that any traveller would NOT want to miss out on. Attractions like the Adelaide Fringe festival run for a month or longer, whilst others such as the Adelaide 500 and The Adelaide festival only run for a few days. So, when booking your stay here make sure you have checked out all the events happening as you won’t want to miss out. Time of the year is also crucial if you are sensitive to weather, as the the summers commonly reach to over 40 degrees.

Accomodation

Getting accomodation in Adelaide is easy. Whether you are looking for stunning Adelaide apartments in the heart of the CBD, something more rural like a beach house on the blissful coasts, or even a station stay in the breathtaking outback, you will find the perfect place to stay, all filled with wonder, charm and views of a lifetime. If you are looking for more adventurous accommodation, you can go on a cruise of the murray river or even a houseboat.

Look local

When travelling, we seem to get all caught up in the major events or areas, whilst unfortunately overlooking the small charms and hidden treasures of the place. Adelaide is filled with these hidden delights, from enchanting wildlife sanctuaries and national parks, to amazing galleries and museums. Finding these unique activities or locations not only creates unique memories, it will also avoid you appearing like the average tourist when talking to others.

Find the things that interest you

What is the point of going on a holiday and not doing things you are interested in? Adelaide has something for everyone, so don’t waste your time by not doing what you love. If art is your interest, go to the Art Gallery of South Australia, which has over 38,000 pieces in its collection. Sports more your thing? Aside from the Adelaide 500 and the ashes, Adelaide also has some of the best surf beaches. If you’re a foodie, Adelaide is host to Australia's great food and wine road trip, The Epicurean Way road trip.

It’s okay to be a tourist

Going to the most advertised/well known areas whilst you are travelling is still a perfectly acceptable way to spend your trip. Sometimes, it is nice to indulge our inner tourist and go to the well known areas, theme parks, attractions. This can be an easier option, especially when travelling as a family, as most main attractions are family-friendly, such as The Adelaide Zoo and The Adelaide Museum.

Relax

We tend to over book holidays and end up stressing over not being able to complete everything we want to. When worrying over knowing you’re supposed to be having a great time, you often need a holiday to get over the holiday.

Don’t get caught out like that. We book holidays to get away from stress, not create more of it. Make a list of the experiences and sights you 100% want to see or visit and try and follow it, but don’t stress when things don't always go to plan. Some of the most unforgettable holidays are ones where you don’t plan everything and brilliant stuff just happens, because you let it.

Travelling to Adelaide can be an amazing experience, filled with so many beautiful memories. When travelling, just remember that the place won’t go away and you can always come back.
