A fun and exciting way to visit the attractions in South East Queensland is to take advantage of public transport. You can purchase TransLink tickets and plan your itinerary for the places you want to visit. Here are some places to visit in South East Queensland.
Brisbane
One of the most famous South East Queensland attractions is the city of Brisbane. The city has arts and culture, a nightlife scene, museums, shopping districts, and natural attractions nearby. An exciting way to see the city of Brisbane is on a hot air balloon ride. The weather conditions for hot air ballooning are perfect in the early morning. Flights depart at dawn. You'll float over the city and experience the sights in a new way. Following your balloon ride, you're treated to a champagne breakfast and wine tasting at a vineyard.
One of Brisbane's fun and vibrant places to visit is the Queen Street Mall, the top entertainment and shopping venue in Queensland. The mall features a pedestrian walkway and more than 700 retail shops. On Friday evenings and throughout the weekend, visitors are entertained with live music. More than special events happen at the mall all year. Some of Brisbane's best bars, restaurants, and cafes are nearby.
Moreton Bay Area
Arriving in Moreton Bay at sunset is breathtaking. The pink, orange, and red of the sunset on the water is spectacular. Redcliffe is the place to start your tour. Redcliffe Parade is the place to find a great restaurant. Visit Pumicestone Passage and take an adventure tour in a kayak. Experience the wildlife up close on a sunset eco-cruise where you can observe sea eagles, osprey, dolphins, and other native wildlife. If you love history, head to Samford Village and walk the Samford Historical Trail. Ocean View Estates Winery offers wine tastings, a restaurant, and picnic hampers.
North Stradbroke Island
Some of Australia's most amazing scenery is at Stradbroke Island. Freshwater lakes, headlands, crashing surf, and beautiful beaches are all part of the island's charm. Point Lookout is for surfing at Cylinder or Main Beach, exploring the dunes, or lying about on the beach.
Ipswich
The culture scene in Ipswich attracts visitors from all over Australia, and it's only 30 minutes from Brisbane. Before seeing the sights, relax at one of the many cafes for coffee and a sweet roll. Ipswich has galleries, antique shops, gardens, and parks to explore. Create a customized trip with a helicopter tour of the city followed by a winery tour or pub crawl. One of the loveliest and oldest parks in Queensland features a Japanese garden and cafes. Top of Town on Brisbane Street has vintage shops, boutiques, restaurants, and cafes.
Lockyer Valley
Only an hour from Brisbane, Lockyer Valley has national parks, stunning views, and a relaxing atmosphere. Spring Bluff was a railway station in the 1800s. Today it's a heritage site with beautiful gardens and a cafe. Horseback riding adventures are a popular activity in the valley. You can take short rides, go for an all day excursion, or go on an overnight horseback trip. Preston Peak Winery has fantastic views and is a beautiful spot to sip Australian wines.
With new technology and new project like the cross river rail funding for the public transit project that's underway is making one of the most innovative transportation projects in Australia a reality. You can currently travel around using bus, ferry, tram, and train. The Cross River Rail Project is designed to improve public transit throughout Brisbane. When cross river rail funding achieves its goal of completing the new railway project, all of Brisbane's shops, restaurants, and attractions will be integrated, making them easier and safer to reach for residents and travellers.
