Rain couldn't dampen the annual celebrations of all things Australian and the icon of the ute at the Deniliquin Ute Muster on September 30 and October 1.
Rain in the two days leading up to the event, and for the two days of the event, didn't deter more than 18,000 people donning gumboots and jackets and attending the event.
"Considering the prevailing weather conditions in the lead up to, and during the event, it was another very successful event," Festival General Manager John Harvie said.
In announcing the world record counts at the Saturday night concert, Festival chairman Harold Clapham said the event had sent unique world records this year - for the number of muddy and bogged utes, and wet blue singlets.
The world record ute count for 2011 was 6998. The Nulon World Record Blue Singlet count recorded 1728.
Saturday night's concert was headlined by Icehouse, who took the stage with Eskimo Joe, Guy Sebastian, Adam Brand, Troy Cassar-Daley and Luke Dickens. The Friday night concert at the event was headlined by a leather-clad rocking Suzi Quatro, along with the Sunny Cowgirls, Adam Harvey and Beccy Cole, McAlister Kemp and Tori Darke.
The biggest crowd outside the MCG sat down to watch the AFL Grand Final between Collingwood and Geelong, with more than 5000 people taking a position in front of the big screen and even more to see Mental As Anything live at the half time break.
Victorian couple, Hayden and Jess Sharman from West Meadows with their modified silver Landcruiser FJ 45 was selected by judges for the top prize of the Deniliquin Ute Muster Ute of the Year title.
In the driving competitions, The Australian National Circle Work Championships was won by South Australian, Steve Pilkinton Saddleworth, who in the boggy conditions was able to get the nod from judges with his driving performance of his Holden VR ute. Second was Adam Laneyrie, Condobilin, NSW and third placed was Victorian heat winner Paul Archer, Rushworth.
The Holden Barrel race was won by Paul Archer, Rushworth, Victoria, with his Natrad ute while in the Go To Wo, David Slaghter from Seville in Victoria with his Redbelly Black Ford XH ute.
Wet conditions made the Holden Grunt Off challenge to pull a Holden ute over 40 metres with a team of five tricky. The female winners were the Scrubettes, while the men's competition was won by Stoodley's Friends.
The raffle for a new Holden Redline SS ute was made on stage on Saturday night, and first-time Muster goer David McGuire, Monteagle (near Young) NSW - who purchased his tickets during Saturday afternoon from the Holden Hangar, was the lucky winner.

This years dates (2012) are Sept 28 and 29.
Along with Kelly will be Lee Kernaghan, John Williamson, the McClymonts and McAlister Kemp will all be returning to the Essential Energy Stage to perform in 2012. More artists will be announced soon.
The Musters ‘Around the Ground’ entertainment this year is huge including Showtime FMX bikes, Tractor Pull, Bull Ride, The Australian National Circlework Championships and heaps more.
Families can also enjoy the Movies by Moonlight screening a children’s movie each night, an animal farm where children can feed and pet the animals and Brian Harrington Duck Show on its farewell tour with ‘The Family Show’ with his border collie dogs, dressed up ducks and racing pigs.

it sounded like great fun. i have always wanted to go to the muster. wish i could of gone this year sounds like the best one yet. i will be there one day when i get my licence.

For those of you that are looking forward to next Years event. The 2012 Deni Ute Muster will be held on September 28 and September 29 2012.
