This year’s Fright Nights at Movie World is set to be the scariest yet with the first of seven events starting tomorrow.
Guests are invited to experience Movie World’s dark side as an evil presence is cast over the park and the dead, the demons and psychopathic maniacs are woken.
Once darkness falls, they’ll lock everyone in, make them run for their lives, and challenge them to take on some of the most horrifying mazes they’ll ever experience.
This year’s Fright Nights will feature four mazes that are set to terrify even the most experienced thrill-seekers, including an all-new Walking Dead Maze, Evil Dead Maze, Hillbilly Slasher II Maze and The Darkness Maze.
Movie World’s Entertainment Manager Michael Croaker said that Fright Nights 2013 will take the meaning of terror to a whole new level as the park ramps up the ante on the horror factor.
“This year at Movie World we’ve decided to make our iconic Fright Nights event scarier than ever before to ensure we give our guests one of the most terrifying nights of their lives.
“One of our mazes is themed around the harrowing Evil Dead film, and we think this one is really going to scare even the most seasoned horror fans.
“We have also introduced the Fast Track Pass at this year’s Fright Nights which is very exciting. With the Fast Track Pass, guests will get priority queuing so that they can take on each of the mazes once, minimising their wait time,” he said.
There will also be a number of live entertainment shows including the amazing new Carn-Evil Circus in the Hollywood Stunt Driver Arena where the demonic FMX riders will have guests on the edge of their seats as they perform death-defying stunts.
The dark and seedy Club Blood will also make a terrifying return, and Fright Nighter’s can dance the night away to possessed beats while sipping on IV bags and syringes.
Fright Nights will be held from 6pm until 10.30pm on 5th, 12th, 18th, 19th, 25th, 26th and 31st of October 2013.
To secure your ticket, purchase a VIP Gold Pass to receive unlimited entry to Movie World, Sea World, and Wet’n’Wild Gold Coast until 30 June 2014, plus one free entry into both of Movie World’s evening events, Fright Nights and White Christmas.
Limited tickets are available for the seven nights in October and guests must book to reserve their place.

I went last year for the first time. At the time I was about 13 and I found it hardly scary. It was really fun walking around the streets and having creepy "monsters" interact with you.
The mazes were quite good with the Hillbilly Slasher being my favourite. It was a bit uncomfortable as when you enter the maze you need to hold a stranger's back (if not, your friend's) throughout the entire maze. A creepy, drunk 30 year old actually tried to tickle my sister which I found to be a form of sexual harassment, so beware.
The drinks were really good, besides having to carry around a clunky mug just to get free refills. The pizza/buffet food place had delicious food with dessert included!
I think it would be better if less people were there or if it were open longer. The actors did a great job and the shows were moderate (such as the car one that was really short, I didn't have time for the magic act). The setting and decorations were really cool.
We ended up going twice last year, and the second time (later in october) we had to buy the fast passes to be able to go through all of the mazes in time. The first time that we went, the line-ups were shorter and it wasn't as busy, so I suggest taking the earlier dates as well as arriving extra early.
The parking was filled up and took about 10 minutes to just leave.
Overall, I had a magnificent time and I would do it again anytime! I loved the experience so much (but keep in mind, I'm just a kid and may have a different judgement than you adults).

A group of 4 of us went for the first time this year (on 12th October), so we have nothing to compare it to. We only made it to three of the mazes, no rides...just the three mazes. In total we were at the park for 3 hours, this consisted of about 15mins total maze time, the rest was lining up. Despite this, we had a good time. Was good to see the random monsters/zombies wandering around while we were in line (one creature actually broke into our line & ran through!)
I do think they let too many people in; we had no time to go to the car show or see the magician guy, let alone go on any rides.
The mazes;
The Darkness- seriously, don't waste your time. Amateur hour! Just semi dark with guys in gas masks slightly jumping out at you.
The Walking Dead- super fun, great effects, set done really well. The zombies are not just behind cages, they roam around. One actually chomped at me!
Hilbilly Slasher II- I found this the scariest/creepiest one...lots of surprises! Longest line though; hour and a half.
We'll go back next year & probably get a fast track pass. If less people were let in, the night would've be top notch!

Seven of us went last night and it was a little disappointing. Last year it was an amazing event. This year... meh. It felt like they had cut the budget. We spent so long in queues that it mad the whole night frustrating. And to add insult to injury, whilst in the queues spruikers walked up and down trying to get us to spend an extra $40 on fast track tickets. One guy was saying "It's an hour and a half wait from this point, you don't need to be waiting in this queue." We had already been in the line for 45 minutes, so we asked another attendant what the wait time was from that point- 30 mins, not an hour and a half. I think the queues were twice as long as last year- we didn't even manage to do all four mazes. And the mazes felt lower budget- the dar one was so lame, just walking through a dark building with people screaming.
The Space Cowboy was great, but short. The other show, who knows, we were stuck in a queue and couldn't see it. And waaaay too many small children, some crying with fear, but the parents were still insisting they went into the mazes. This is probably a child welfare issue and I think Movie World needs to start enforcing a minimum age.
Car park was well managed and food options were good and not too expensive, but overall a disappointment compared to last year, and we won't bother next year.
