Sydney Opera House

The Sydney Opera House is one of Australia's most famous landmarks that attracts over seven million visitors each year. Located at Bennelong Point near the Sydney Harbour Bridge the Opera House features a series of precast concrete panels with a shell like appearance. The opera house was designed by Dutch architect Jorn Utzon who won the Pritzker Prize for his design. Opening in 1973, the Sydney Opera House is one of the busiest performing arts centres in the world.

The Concert Hall is one of the largest spaces in the Opera House with 2679 seats. The Grand Organ is a noticeable feature of the Concert Hall with over 10,000 pipes. The second largest room is the Opera Theatre which has 1507 seats and is home to The Australian Ballet and Opera Australia. Other areas include the Drama Theatre, the Playhouse, the Studio and the Utzon Room. There are also a selection of restaurants, bars and function rooms. If you are planning a trip to Sydney then make sure you allow some time to visit the Opera House or perhaps enjoy a show.
