Ayers Rock is a fascinating landmark that is located in the Northern Territory. Ayers Rock is a massive 348 metres high and has a circumference of 9.4 kilometres. Ayers Rock is a coarse grained type of sandstone that was first sighted in 1873 by William Gosse. It was named after Sir Henry Ayers but it is also known by its Aboriginal name – Uluru.
