Whitsundays

Whitsundays

The famous Whitsundays are a fantastic location to visit in the warmer months. They are located off the Whitsunday Coast, in Queensland. There are 74 different islands which make up this beautiful destination.

If you are looking for an overnight trip in the Whitsundays, there are resorts on several of the islands including: Hamilton Island, Hayman Island, Hook Island, Lindeman Island, Long Island and South Molle Island. Camping is also available on many of the islands.

If you can't stay on one of the Whitsunday Islands, you definitely must join one of the many cruises out to the Whitsundays. There are day trips as well as sunset cruises allowing you to experience the beauty of the sun setting over the Whitsundays.

My favourite Island was Hamilton Island. When I visited Hamilton Island I went snorkelling and relaxed on the beach. Pretty much any activity is possible on Hamilton Island including fishing, helicopter rides, scuba diving, parasailing and much more.

Another must-see location in the Whitsundays is Hayman Island. It is the northernmost Whitsunday Island and is only 4 square kilometres. There are a number of small coves and coral beaches that surround the island which made it a fantastic place for snorkelling. On Hayman Island there are also a couple of walking trails, which offer extraordinary scenery and spectacular views.

Other Islands worth visiting are Hook Island, Lindeman Island, Long Island and Whitsunday Island which is the largest Island in the Whitsundays.
