Whale watching season runs for 6 months of the year from June to early December. Each year 35,000 whales including humpback, southern right, minke and blue whales migrate through the warmer waters north of the Antarctic. You can often spot them from lookout platforms from the shore or the cliffs or take a whale watching cruise to see their grace and majesty up close.

Both the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse and Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse both stand as beacon bookends on either end of the Margaret River Region. You can tour both lighthouses and witness the 360 degree panoramic views of the entire region.

There are many different beaches in the Margaret River Region. The top beaches are Busselton Foreshore, Dunsborough Foreshore, Meelup, Eagle Bay, Bunker Bay, Yalingup, Smiths Beach, Cowaramup Bay, Gnarabup and Hamelin Bay. You can find popular surf spots, sheltered bays, or secluded beaches.

This amazing forest with towering karri trees 60m high is just about a 25 minute drive from the Margaret River Region. It is just one of several forest retreats in the area. There is camping available at many locations. This region is in the top 10 biodiversity hotspots in the world.
